The Motion of the Image is a production workshop for video art and experimental film by Medrar for Contemporary Art that took place in Cairo, Egypt with the participation of 7 artists and filmmakers. Along with the technical aspect, the workshop had a strong focus on the conceptual element of filmmaking. Participants dived through the history of cinema, the regional realities of filmmaking, critically looking at produced artworks and discovering their own approach to translating an idea and developing it further into a film. The Motion of the Image is presented by CultureHub as a part of Re–Fest. It will be streamed LIVE online at 1pm ET / 8pm Cairo time on June 6th. Watch it by navigating to the Re–Fest page and entering the virtual venue. Watch on a laptop or desktop using google chrome for the best experience.
The livestream will be produced using LiveLab Broadcaster, a browser based low-latency livestreaming platform that allows for real time interactions with online audiences. The open-source project is created by CultureHub and has been used by CultureHub and La MaMa in the following productions: Take 21 (2022), A Few Deep Breaths (2022), Fractals of Prometheus (2023), Downtown Variety Ukraine Edition (2023), and Medea (2024).
