على حافة البحر takes the Epic of Gilgamesh as a departure point to excavate decolonial imaginaries and the relationship between racialized-necropolitical destruction, war-climate continuum, and bodies in protest across time and space. By using experimentalism and utilizing a feminist refugee-centered transnational approach, Dena Al-Adeeb and Sholeh Asgary blend Iranian and Arabic vocal traditions with moving images and sound.
على حافة البحر is presented by CultureHub as a part of Re–Fest. It will be streamed LIVE online at 2pm ET / 11am PT on Tuesday June 11th. Watch it by navigating to the Re–Fest page and entering the virtual venue. Watch on a laptop or desktop using google chrome for the best experience.
Created by Dena Al-Adeeb (Iraq / United States) and Sholeh Asgary (Iran / United States).
The livestream will be produced using LiveLab Broadcaster, a browser based low-latency livestreaming platform that allows for real time interactions with online audiences.
