Stacy Dawson Stearns uses the corporeal body as a tool to explore human consciousness. Originating in performance, her practice includes film, writing, new media, and the making of objects that stimulate thought. A Modern Transcendentalist, Stacy sometimes creates via trance states and a walking form of channeling that occurs after conducting excessive research. She is the recipient of a Bessie Award for her portrayal of Satan in Big Dance Theater’s Another Telepathic Thing (2000) and was a member of the illustrious Blacklips performance Cult. She is currently writing a book that encourages others to make art and her pamphlet, Howe To Rehearse, is set for release in April.
