Marija Kovačina is a film editor, multimedia artist and musician based in Belgrade, Serbia. Coming from a multimedia engineering background, she utilises a spectrum of skills to make a diverse approach to visual arts. Her main field is documentary film making, editing and directing for independent cinema as well as commercial or TV productions.

She is a member of Eho animato, performing arts and multimedia practices research collective. Her role in the collective is technical leadership but she enjoys combining it with the performative role since she spent a big part of her life as musical performer. Her interest in theater started in high school when she joined an independent physical theater troupe as a performer and musician. 

Later on she started VJ-ing at concerts and parties, which eventually turned her to multimedia and digital theater practice. She is a multiinstrumentalist and a singer always in search of a good jam.

She collaborated with CultureHub New York on Downtown Variety Serbia edition where Eho Animato produced two live translocational performances and at the Belgrade Convenings in 2021 & 2023, the international meetings of the CultureHub community, creating a platform for artists, engineers and creatives of the Balkans.
