<집;zip> is a collection of media and participatory artworks, that tell a story about adaptation.
The Korean word 집[jip] means "home." And also shares a pronunciation with .zip, a file format that can contain multiple files combined and compressed into one file, so that they can move more easily between locations.
For four students from SeoulArts who have spent the past 4 months as interns at CultureHub and La MaMa, adapting to life in New York City required them to find a reliable and cozy sanctuary: a home. But a home is more than a physical structure. For Junseo Ha, Ain Chong, Dongho Kang, and Byunghoon Kang, the journey towards feeling at home in a new city revealed more about the complex nature of adaptation.
