Two is the midpoint between solitude and a crowd. Two is when we can be alone, together.
Dyad is a series of choreographic studies that explore the ways two bodies relate to each other in space through movement-based sound interaction.
These studies reveal the complexity of bodies in dynamic interplay as we strive to gain a deeper understanding of the ways we complement, counter, and connect with each other.
This is an in-person performance held at CultureHub NYC as a part of Re–Fest 2023. Performances will take place on on Thursday April 27th and Friday April 28th at 7pm ET. Join us at 6pm on Friday April 28th for a performance by High Desert Soundings in the La MaMa Galleria prior to NUUM’s performance.
The performance on Friday, April 28th will be livestreamed into our virtual venue.

NUUM is a collective of multidisciplinary artists working across a broad range of media including visual art, choreography, text, sound, and code.
They examine each form through the lens of an adjacent one which prompts a recurring set of questions: What do we (not) see? What’s real, what's fabricated? How does movement define space? How does stillness define movement? When does movement become gesture become implication? How does language subvert our senses? How do participation and choice craft a narrative that holds you in a tighter embrace? When does a pattern turn into a composition? And when does an algorithm become a way of thinking?
The questions are simultaneously wide-ranging and circular because we are forever in search of ways to craft meaning out of form as we strive to create work that can be sensed and felt rather than explained and articulated.
