Afrotecopia partnered with MIT Media Lab's Space Exploration Initiative and NYU ITP to create an incubator to reimagine the possibilities of space travel. What has resulted is an imagination expanding body of work in the form of a limited edition Kitchen Table Art Book titled "Black Metal." The Black Metal Starship Program invites communities around the country to experience a simulation of the Black Metal voyage through an experimental participatory performance lecture.
"At the core of Black Metal is the concept of self-realization. Each chapter invites readers on a journey of inner and outer discovery, using art, science fiction, and speculative thought as the vehicles. But this is not just an artistic endeavor—it’s a call to rethink how we see ourselves in relation to the universe." –New York Said
Copies of Black Metal will be available to purchase at this event.
